Candy Spelling is confident Hollywood’s reformed bad girl Shannen Doherty can waltz her way to a Dancing With the Stars disco ball trophy.

“Shannen is good at anything she wants to do, so I think she will be good at this,” Spelling beamed yesterday at Debbie Durkin’s Eco-Oscars Green Carpet Hospitality Lounge in Beverly Hills.

With Doherty, 36, following in the DWTS footsteps of fellow 90210 alums Ian Ziering and Jennie Garth, we just had to ask Ms. Spelling if she thinks daughter Tori will be the next West Bev grad to slip on her dancin’ shoes. Unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like the 36-year-old married mommy of two has any plans to salsa with the best of them yet.

“I think Tori’s too busy with her show that she doesn’t have time,” Candy said. “She’s also got her baby line and two more books coming out.”

Even though Tori probably won’t be a part of ABC’s hit show anytime soon, Candy is proud of how far her daughter’s 90210 costar Doherty has come since her hard-partying days, and she is excited to watch her take center stage.

“I think a lot of [young] people get caught up in a lot of things that go on in Hollywood, and as they get older it gets better,” Candy said. “I can’t wait to watch this season!”

We couldn’t agree more. Doherty on Dancing gives us even more of a reason to tune in! (Source)

Despite suffering stage fright, Shannen Doherty finally decided to do Dancing with the Stars after her father suffered a near-fatal stroke on Christmas.

“He lost his speech, he wasn’t mobile. He was really struggling, and still is,” she told People in a Tuesday report.

“When I mentioned [Dancing with the Stars] to him, he got really excited, and he wanted me to do it. I thought, if my dad can fight through having a stroke and the loss of being able to communicate, I think I can do this for him. So I figured I’m going to get over my fear for him.”

Doherty is one of 11 celebrity participants competing on Dancing with the Stars tenth season, which premieres March 22.

The former Scare Tactics and Breaking Up with Shannen Doherty host had previously turned down chances to compete on Dancing with the Stars, including an offer to compete on its initial Summer 2005 season.

“I have a huge fear of live audiences,” she explained to People. “I break out in hives, full blown panic attacks, and everything else.”

In addition to dealing with her fear of live audiences, Doherty also said she needs to build up her strength so she’s physically fit for the series.

“I don’t work out. I need to get my endurance up,” she told People. “I’m going to get in great shape.”

Doherty is also confident she’ll have a good time since fellow former 90210 co-stars Ian Ziering and Jennie Garth have already competed on the ABC reality series.

“Everyone who I know who’s been on the show has had a great time,” she told People. “It’s with hesitation and fear, but it’s going to be good to conquer a fear.”

Former “Beverly Hills, 90210″ star, Shannen Doherty is waltzing her way on to “Dancing with the Stars.” ABC won’t reveal the official cast list for the new cycle of its reality hit until tonight, saving the announcement for the season finale of “The Bachelor.” But Doherty is among the celebs on the roster for the new season, according to two people familiar with the casting.

As usual, ABC isn’t confirming casting on the show before the official reveal.

Doherty’s signing comes just months after her ex-husband, Ashley Hamilton, appeared as a contestant on “DWTS.” Doherty is no doubt hoping to do a bit better in the competition: Hamilton was eliminated during the first week. Shannen, who’s set to celebrate her 39th birthday this spring, was recently cast in the Hallmark Channel movie “Growing the Big One.” The Halloween-themed pumpkin pic is set to debut in October. Her other recent credits include the feature “Burning Palms” and a visit to the CW’s “90210″ revival. (Source)

Like the book title French Women Don’t Get Fat, French-educated and slender Shannen doesn’t sweat her diet and exercise routine. Shannen reveals her shocking and unexpected “stay-slim” secrets as well as her favourite go-to designers:

“I don’t do anything,” the actress, who admits she doesn’t like cupcakes, says. “I actually swear to God that I do not do anything. We went to dinner with a couple girls who are walking in fashion shows, and I’m digging into a New York steak, French fries and a cookies and cream soufflé. They’re drinking Perrier, and that’s it. I’m like ‘why aren’t you eating?’ and they’re like [French/foreign accent] ‘well, we have a show tomorrow.’ And I’m like, ‘so you’re not going to eat?’ I have no clue what that’s like.”

She continues, “I’m sure my metabolism is going to change at some point. I’m sure that it’s going to slow down, and I’ll be like ‘damn, why didn’t I go to the gym?’ When I put on five pounds, I guess I’ll work out. Until then, I’m going to enjoy it.”

While we’ll see more of Shannen this year in TV’s Growing the Big One and dramedy Burning Palms, she’s no one-trick pony. Aside from acting, she’s served as editor-in-chief of Pasadena magazine, where she dabbled in art direction and photography. Most recently she lent her eye for fashion to Universal Records, for whom she recently styled a shoot for an upcoming artist.

She credits Dolce and Gabbana, Chanel (“a staple in my closet”), D Squared and the late Alexander McQueen as her favorite designers.

“I think he was a true creative genius,” Shannen says. “We lost somebody incredibly important in fashion. In the world, he defined a time, and kept changing and doing interesting things. We lost that.”

She offers a style tip in the form of hindsight just before the G-Star Raw fashion show begins.

“Make sure that what you’re wearing, you’re not going to look back ten years later and regret that you wore it, like my high-waisted jeans.” Adding, “I like to be very quick,” she says. “Whatever takes me five minutes to get ready is good.”

Despite two divorces and a reputation for being difficult since her 90210 days, Shannen Doherty tells reporters she has no regrets. Now happy with her photographer beau of 1 ½ years Kurt Iswarienko, the 38-year-old actress has found peace, but she halts the interview when it comes to marriage talk.

“We just meld well together,” the petite, cool, guardedly friendly actress says while relaxing downstairs at NYC’s Hammerstein Ballroom last week. One key: Kurt fits in well with her pets, which include dogs and horses. “He gets along great. He’s an easygoing guy, so it all works out.” Thank goodness, she laughs, as they’re very important to her. She tells me, “They’re like my children.”

And children can never get enough adoration from their parents.

“I give them lots of love,” Shannen tells me of her animals. “That’s it. I no longer feed them table scraps, because people come over and the dogs beg and it’s annoying. I don’t do that anymore. It breaks my heart, but you can’t do it. It’s very bad. They get lots and lots of love.”

For the animal-loving Tennessee-born actress, being labeled as a bad girl is a misconception that gives her pause.

“It’s funny,” she says. “I think that in America, a woman with a brain is called a woman with edge, and I think in Europe, a woman with a brain is called a woman with a brain. I think it’s a very different stigma. I don’t think it’s an edge at all. I’m smart and I’m quick, and I like playing smart characters.”

Although Shannen seemed to cultivate a naughty image during her 1990-1994 90210 heyday, her reputation and her reality were far different. She started her career on Little House on the Prairie at age 11, and wound up on Our House by age 15 before making her way to the teen dramedy set in the prestigious zip code.

“I was working during most of my high school years, so I was usually on a set,” she says. “I also went to private French school, and it was very much about academics. It was boys and girls, but there were uniforms. It was strict. Everyone had their own style with the uniforms, like what length was your skirt, did you wear scarves, did you do this, did you do that, tights, knee socks. There were no mean girls. It was a French school. It was heavily, heavily European, and I think everybody was very open-minded, objective and accepting. It wasn’t a judgmental environment at all.”
